Hyster forklifts don’t stop. That’s the whole point. So when a tyre goes — or when it’s worn to the point where you’re pushing your luck — you need a supplier who can move as fast as your operation demands.
GP Forklifts has been in the forklift tyre business for over 53 years collectively. Hyster is one of the brands we know well — the H2.0 warehouse models, the H5.0 heavies, the pedestrian electric range. We stock the most common tyre sizes and can source the less common ones without a long wait.
Call 010 110 1819 or email sales@gpforklifts.co.za. Tell us your model and what you’re running on, and we’ll get a price back to you the same day.
The right tyre depends on where your Hyster is working. A warehouse machine running on polished concrete needs something completely different to a yard truck dealing with gravel and kerbs. Here’s how the options break down.
For most counterbalance Hyster models running indoors, solid press-on tyres are the obvious choice. No air means no punctures — and if you’re running two or three shifts, that matters a lot more than it sounds. You’ll also notice they last significantly longer than pneumatics in smooth-floor environments, which means fewer replacements and less downtime over the life of the machine. The higher upfront cost tends to pay for itself within the first year for any operation running regular hours.
Worth noting: not all solids are the same. Compound hardness varies, and the right grade depends on your load weights and floor surface.
Have a look at our solid forklift tyres to see current stock across common Hyster sizes.
Outdoor work changes everything. If your Hyster is operating in a yard, on gravel, or across uneven ground, pneumatic tyres are the correct call — they absorb the surface variation that would transfer straight through a solid, and they grip better where the ground isn’t flat. We stock both bias-ply and radial pneumatics to suit Hyster’s outdoor counterbalance range.
Foam-filled tyres are sometimes overlooked, but they’re a sensible option for specific environments. You get the ride cushioning and traction of a pneumatic without the puncture risk — useful in scrap yards, recycling operations, or anywhere that sharp debris is a regular hazard. Once filled, they’re essentially maintenance-free.
Hyster’s electric pedestrian range — pallet trucks, stackers — uses polyurethane drive wheels and load wheels rather than rubber tyres. These wear out too, and getting the replacement right means matching the wheel diameter, bore, and width precisely to your model. GP Forklifts stocks polyurethane options for Hyster’s pedestrian range and can advise on the correct spec if you’re working from a machine number rather than a wheel dimension.

This is where it gets specific. Getting the tyre size wrong — even by a small margin — can affect your forklift’s rated lift height and stability. The table below covers the most commonly fitted sizes across popular Hyster models. If your machine isn’t listed, or you’re not sure what you’re looking at on the sidewall, call us with the model number and we’ll confirm.
Tyre Size | Common Hyster Application |
6.00-9 (Solid) | Hyster H1.5–H2.0 (small-frame counterbalance) |
6.50-10 (Solid) | Hyster H2.5–H3.0 (medium warehouse counterbalance) |
7.00-12 (Solid) | Hyster H3.5–H4.0 (heavier indoor models) |
8.25-15 (Solid) | Hyster H4.5–H5.0 (heavy-duty counterbalance) |
18×7-8 (Pneumatic) | Hyster H2.5XM outdoor yard models |
21×8-9 (Pneumatic) | Hyster H3.0–H3.5 outdoor/rough terrain |
23×9-10 (Foam-filled) | Hyster H4.0 mixed surface operations |
28×9-15 (Pneumatic) | Hyster H5.0–H6.0 heavy outdoor counterbalance |
200×50 (Polyurethane) | Hyster P2.0 electric pallet truck (drive wheel) |
85×93 (Polyurethane) | Hyster B80Z electric stacker (load wheel) |
Model year and regional configuration do occasionally produce variations. If you’re working with a non-standard rim, we can still source what you need. Call 010 110 1819 with the details.
Tyre suppliers aren’t hard to find. What’s harder is finding one that actually understands forklift tyres — load ratings, compound grades, what a badly spec’d solid does to a machine’s centre of gravity over time. That’s the gap GP Forklifts fills.
That figure represents collective experience across our team — not years since registration. It means the people quoting your tyres have worked on Hyster applications for long enough to know where the common mistakes happen. We don’t make them.
It’s frustrating to get a quote and then find out the tyre’s three weeks away. We carry stock across the most common Hyster sizes — so when your machine needs tyres, we’re not starting from scratch.
Overseas tyre catalogues don’t account for the heat, the dust, or the typical yard surfaces in Gauteng. Our recommendations are based on what actually holds up here — not what works in a European warehouse.
If something’s going to affect the cost — a non-standard rim, a fitting complication — we’ll say so upfront. No padding invoices after the fact.
Five steps. Here’s what to expect from first contact to your Hyster being back in service.
Your Hyster model number, the current tyre size if you can read it off the sidewall, and a brief description of where the machine operates. A photo of the existing tyre's sidewall works fine if the size isn't obvious.
We check compatibility, confirm what's in stock, and come back to you with a price. If there's anything we need to clarify, we'll ask — but we try to get to a quote in a single exchange.
Once you're satisfied with the pricing, you give us the go-ahead. We'll agree a fitting date that keeps your downtime to a minimum.
We supply the tyres and fit them on-site. Solid press-on tyres require a press machine — we have the equipment to do this properly, not just push them on by hand.
Before we leave, we check the tyre seating and torque. Your Hyster goes back to work correctly fitted, not just fitted.
GP Forklifts operates across the province. Our primary service areas include:
Outside those areas? Call us on 010 110 1819 and we’ll be straight with you about what’s feasible.
There’s no single figure that works for every Hyster tyre — size, type, and compound grade all affect the price, and fitting adds to it. What we can do is explain the variables and get you an accurate quote quickly.
Pricing Factor | Impact on Cost |
Tyre Size | Larger tyres, particularly those used on H5.0 models and above, cost more than tyres fitted to compact pedestrian equipment due to the increased material and load-bearing requirements. |
Tyre Type | Solid press-on tyres typically have a higher upfront cost than pneumatic tyres. However, in most warehouse environments, their longer service life can result in lower replacement costs over time. |
Compound Grade | Different rubber compounds, including standard black, non-marking white, and high-load variants, are priced according to their performance characteristics and application requirements. |
Fitting & Installation | Press-on tyre installation requires specialised equipment and trained technicians. Fitting costs are generally included in the quotation to provide full pricing transparency. |
Category | Typical Pricing Position |
Compact Pedestrian Machine Tyres | Lower price range due to smaller dimensions and lower load capacities. |
Standard Pneumatic Tyres | Mid-range pricing depending on size and application. |
Solid Press-On Tyres | Higher upfront investment with longer service life in warehouse operations. |
Non-Marking & High-Load Compounds | Premium pricing due to specialised rubber formulations and performance requirements. |
Consideration | Benefit |
Correct Compound Selection | Ensures the tyre matches the operating environment and maximises lifespan. |
Professional Fitment | Guarantees proper installation, safety, and optimal tyre performance. |
Complete Quotations | Including fitting costs upfront helps eliminate unexpected expenses after purchase. |

Ryan WiblinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently had to do some major repairs to our forklift. Bob and the team at GP forklifts were absolutely unreal in their service and communication. The forklift was repaired at a very reasonable price and great care and effort was put into repairing everything and I'm quite convinced that the forklift is now running better than when we bought it new. We supply compatible forklift tyres for all major brands, including Hyster. The tyres we stock meet the load ratings and dimensional specifications for Hyster models — and with 53 years of collective industry experience, we know how to match the right product to the right machine.
The easiest method is the sidewall of your existing tyre — the size is moulded into the rubber, usually something like 6.50-10 or 8.25-15. If the tyre is too worn to read, give us your Hyster model number and we’ll look it up. We’d rather confirm the spec before ordering than fix a mistake after.
For sizes we carry in stock, we can typically quote on the same day and arrange fitting within one to two business days. If we need to source a particular size, we’ll give you an honest lead time rather than an optimistic one. Getting your machine back up matters — we won’t waste your time.
Solid tyres are solid rubber — no air, no punctures, lower maintenance. They’re the right choice for smooth floors and consistent indoor use. Pneumatic tyres are air-filled and absorb surface variation better, which makes them correct for outdoor and rough-ground applications. If you’re unsure which applies to your operation, describe where your Hyster works and we’ll make a recommendation.
Yes. Non-marking white compound solids are available for operations where black tyre marks on the floor aren’t acceptable — food production, pharmaceutical, retail. Just specify this when you’re requesting a quote so we price the right product from the start.
Johannesburg, Pretoria, the East Rand, West Rand, and the Vaal Triangle. If your operation sits outside those areas, call us on 010 110 1819 and we’ll tell you what’s possible.
The tyres we supply are warranted against manufacturing defects. Any issue related to fitting, we’ll address without question. Tyre lifespan does depend on operating conditions — compound grade, surface type, load weight, hours of use — and that’s exactly why we spend time on the spec before quoting. The right tyre, correctly fitted, will serve you significantly longer than the wrong one.
Yes. Call 010 110 1819 or email sales@gpforklifts.co.za with your model and tyre size. We’ll give you a quote and leave it with you. No follow-up calls, no pressure.
Your Hyster needs tyres that match how it actually works — the right compound for your floor, the right size for your model, fitted by people who’ve done it properly hundreds of times. That’s what GP Forklifts delivers.
We respond to enquiries the same business day. One tyre or a full fleet retype — makes no difference to how we handle your enquiry.
