A bald or perished forklift tyre isn’t just an inconvenience — it changes how your machine handles under load, and that’s a safety issue as much as an operational one. GP Forklifts supplies solid, pneumatic, and press-on tyres for Cape Town businesses, covering Toyota, Hyster, Yale, Linde, Crown, Nissan, Mitsubishi, TCM, and most other major brands. We’re a BEE Level 1 supplier with 135% procurement recognition, backed by 53 years of collective experience in the forklift industry.
Getting tyres from a Gauteng-based supplier to a Cape Town warehouse works, provided the process is set up properly. That’s what this page covers: what we supply, how fitment gets arranged, and what it typically costs.

01
Puncture-proof rubber built in two to three layers, ideal for warehouses, yards with debris, or any site where a flat simply isn’t an option. Solid tyres typically outlast pneumatics by three to five times in operating hours, though the ride is firmer.
02
Air-filled, with better shock absorption and grip on rough or outdoor terrain. If your forklift spends time on gravel, uneven yards, or loading docks with potholes, pneumatics generally hold up better and keep operators more comfortable over a full shift.
03
Solid rubber bonded to a steel band, common on cushion-tyre forklifts used indoors on flat concrete. Available in standard and non-marking versions.
04
For food-grade, retail, or clean-environment sites, we can source non-marking solid and pneumatic tyres that won’t leave residue on light-coloured or sensitive flooring.
We don’t have a walk-in tyre bay in Cape Town, so we’re upfront about how this works: tyres are sourced from our Gauteng stock, dispatched by courier, and fitment is arranged either through a scheduled technician visit or a vetted local fitting partner, depending on what suits your timeline and location best.
Once you’ve given us your forklift’s model and current tyre size (readable on the sidewall, or from the data plate if the tyre’s too worn to check), we confirm the correct size and construction before anything ships. Standard tyre orders typically take 2–4 working days to arrive at a Cape Town address; fitment is then scheduled separately, usually within a week of delivery. If your forklift is completely down and this timeline doesn’t work for your operation, tell us — we’ll be honest if a Cape Town-based tyre supplier would get you moving faster.
Getting tyre size wrong isn’t a minor error. Your forklift’s stability calculations assume a specific tyre dimension, and fitting the wrong size shifts the centre of gravity — making tipping more likely when turning under load or reaching height. Front (drive) and rear (steer) tyres are often different sizes too, so don’t assume all four match without checking.
As a general starting reference: Toyota’s smaller electric models often run 18×7-8, with larger diesel or LPG units on 7.00-12 or 28×9-15. Hyster and Yale commonly use 6.50-10 or 7.00-12 on mid-range trucks. Crown electrics frequently take cushion sizes like 16x6x10.5. Nissan and Linde both lean toward metric sizing — 250-15 or 355/65-15 on Nissan, 200/50-10 or 250-15 on Linde. These are common patterns, not guarantees for your specific model — send us your details and we’ll confirm before you order.
One enquiry usually covers your whole fleet, whatever the mix of brands.
Because we’re coordinating delivery and fitment from Gauteng rather than pretending to be local, we give you a specific delivery window rather than a vague promise, and we stick to it.
Whether it’s our own technician or a vetted local partner handling installation, the process includes checking rims, correct mounting, and a basic operational check before we call the job done.
Tyre cost, delivery, and fitment are quoted separately, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
Ryan WiblinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently had to do some major repairs to our forklift. Bob and the team at GP forklifts were absolutely unreal in their service and communication. The forklift was repaired at a very reasonable price and great care and effort was put into repairing everything and I'm quite convinced that the forklift is now running better than when we bought it new. Solid, pneumatic, and press-on tyres for:
We’re an independent multi-brand tyre supplier — this list reflects brands we fit, not an authorised dealership claim.
durable tyres for forklifts working harbour-adjacent and cold-chain logistics sites.
high-turnover tyre replacement for busy distribution fleets.
non-marking options where floor condition matters.
solid and pneumatic tyres suited to packhouse floors and outdoor yard conditions across the Western Cape.
Tyre pricing varies by size, brand, and construction, so treat the figures below as a general South African market reference rather than a fixed Cape Town price list — we’ll confirm exact pricing once we know your forklift’s tyre size.
Tyre size (approx.) | Typical price range (ex. VAT, tyre only) |
|---|---|
500-8 | R1,800 – R2,500 |
600-9 | R2,300 – R3,200 |
650-10 | R3,000 – R4,000 |
700-12 | R3,500 – R4,800 |
Delivery to Cape Town and any fitment cost are quoted separately once we know your location and whether a technician visit is needed. Larger pneumatic sizes and specialist non-marking tyres generally cost more than the ranges shown here.
Pricing depends on the specific tyre, part, or service involved, so we won’t pretend a single number covers every Cape Town enquiry. As a general guide: individual solid tyres for standard 2.5–3-tonne forklifts typically start in the low thousands of Rand per tyre before fitment, with pneumatic tyres and larger-capacity models costing more. Common wear parts (filters, seals, small hydraulic components) are usually a few hundred to a few thousand Rand depending on complexity, while larger assemblies cost more and may need to be specially ordered.
What affects your final price: whether the part is stocked or needs to be sourced, the forklift’s capacity and tyre construction, courier costs to your specific Cape Town location, and whether a technician visit is required for fitment. We accept EFT, and card payment can be arranged for approved accounts. A deposit is generally required before dispatch on first-time orders.
You’ll receive a written quote, usually within one working day of your enquiry, itemising the tyre or part, delivery, and any installation charge, so there’s nothing added on after the fact.
We coordinate on-site fitment through a scheduled visit — either our own technician or a vetted local partner, depending on timing. You shouldn’t need to transport the forklift anywhere for a standard tyre change.
Standard orders typically arrive within 2–4 working days of confirming your size and placing the order. Fitment is then scheduled separately.
Yes — send us the make, model, and either the current tyre’s sidewall markings or your data plate details, and we’ll confirm the correct size before dispatch.
Yes, both solid and pneumatic non-marking options are available for sites where floor marking is a concern.
Solid tyres are puncture-proof and last longer but ride firmer; pneumatic tyres cushion better on rough or outdoor surfaces but can puncture. Your typical operating surface should drive the choice.
Yes, tyres come with manufacturer warranty cover, and we’ll explain the specific terms for your chosen tyre before you order.
Send us your forklift’s make, model, and tyre size, and we’ll come back with a firm quote covering the tyre, delivery, and fitment — usually within one working day.
