BLACK FRIDAY DEAL UP TO 10% OFF
When your Nissan forklift breaks down, every hour costs money. We stock genuine Nissan parts and usually dispatch same day. Our crew has worked on forklifts for 53 years combined, so we’ve pretty much seen it all when it comes to what breaks and why.
You’re getting the actual part you need – not some close-enough alternative – plus straight answers from people who fix these things for a living. One forklift or twenty, makes no difference.

01
The engine’s what makes your forklift go. We stock all the filters – air, oil, fuel – plus gaskets and seals. These are especially important in South African conditions because the dust here is brutal.
Beyond filters, we’ve got pistons, rings, bearings, timing parts. All genuine Nissan spec, not generic copies. Your alternator, starter, battery, electrical bits – we stock those too. With load shedding being what it is, having reliable electrical components matters more than it used to. Your forklift’s already dealing with stop-start cycles and heavy loads. Adding dodgy electrics into that mix just creates problems.
02
Hydraulics lift your loads. When they fail, you’re stuck. We keep pumps, cylinders, control valves, and hoses in stock. Plus all the seals, o-rings, and fittings that always seem to need replacing at the worst possible time.
If you’re not sure what’s wrong with your hydraulics, call us. We can often figure it out over the phone based on what symptoms you’re seeing. Slow lift? Fluid leak? Complete failure? We’ve diagnosed these problems hundreds of times. Sometimes it’s obvious, sometimes it takes a bit of back-and-forth, but we usually get there.
03
Nissan transmissions take a beating, especially if you’re constantly changing direction or working on slopes. We stock clutches, gears, bearings, seals. For the drivetrain – drive shafts, axle parts, differential components, wheel bearings.
How these parts wear depends entirely on what you’re doing with the forklift. A warehouse machine has completely different wear patterns than one loading trucks outside all day. Tell us about your operation and we’ll make sure you get parts that actually suit what you’re putting them through.
04
Brakes either work or they don’t – there’s no middle ground on safety. We stock genuine Nissan brake components: pads, shoes, drums, rotors, hydraulic parts. This isn’t the place to save R200 on aftermarket alternatives. Your operators and your loads depend on proper brakes.
South African operations often involve steep ramps or slopes. If your brakes are working harder than average, we’ve got heavy-duty options. Brake fade, excessive wear, reduced stopping power – whatever you’re dealing with, we can sort out the right parts.
05
The mast takes enormous loads every single day. Chains, rollers, carriage parts, bearings – when these wear out, your lift gets jerky and potentially dangerous. We stock standard replacements plus heavy-duty versions for operations that push equipment harder than normal.
If you’re regularly lifting maximum capacity or working in rough conditions, the heavy-duty parts will actually save you money over time. They last longer and you spend less time on repairs.
Fifty-three years combined means we’ve watched Nissan forklifts work in every South African condition imaginable. How dust clogs air systems. How heat affects hydraulic fluid. How load shedding creates battery issues. This is stuff we’ve learned by actually dealing with it, not reading it in a manual.
When you call with a problem, you’re talking to someone who’s probably fixed that exact issue before. Often we can tell you what’s likely broken just from your description. Saves you time diagnosing and gets you back to work faster.
We sell genuine Nissan parts. Not copies, not “compatible” alternatives, not grey imports. The real thing, made to Nissan’s specifications. Yes, they cost more than knockoffs. They also fit properly and last the expected time. When a cheap part fails after three months, you haven’t saved anything – you’ve just created more downtime.
That said, we’re not trying to rip you off. Our pricing is fair based on what we pay and a reasonable markup. No emergency surcharges, no Friday afternoon pricing games. Same part, same price, whether you call Monday morning or Thursday afternoon.
We understand downtime costs real money. Order before 2pm and we’ll dispatch the same day if it’s in stock. Joburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, PE – we ship to all the major centres regularly.
If we don’t have something in stock, we’ll tell you straight away and give you honest delivery times. No vague “we’ll get back to you” responses while you sit around wondering. You need to plan your repair work, so you need real information.
Selling you parts is one thing. Making sure you get the right part and can install it properly – that’s what keeps customers coming back. Our technical guys can help diagnose problems, recommend fixes, walk you through installation if needed.
Not sure which part you need? Send photos or model numbers and we’ll figure it out. We’ve talked people through everything from simple filter swaps to full transmission rebuilds. Sometimes the problem isn’t what you think it is. We’d rather help you identify the actual issue than sell you something unnecessary.
Forklifts in South Africa deal with conditions that manuals written in Japan or Europe don’t account for. Interior dust. Coastal humidity. Gauteng altitude. Load shedding everywhere. These factors affect maintenance intervals and part selection.
Your air filter might need changing twice as often as the manual says if you’re operating in dusty conditions. Battery maintenance becomes more critical when power’s unreliable. We give recommendations based on South African reality, not imported service manuals.
Tired operators make mistakes. Uncomfortable operators get tired faster. We stock seats, seat belts, mirrors, lights, safety equipment. A worn-out seat might seem minor until your operator’s complaining about back pain and making errors because they’re uncomfortable.
We also carry overhead guards, load backrests, warning devices that meet South African safety regs. If you’ve got an audit coming up or need to bring equipment up to current standards, we can tell you what you actually need versus what’s nice-to-have.
Phone 010 110 1819 or email sales@gpforklifts.co.za. Give us your forklift model, serial number, and describe what’s wrong or what part you need.
If you’re not certain about the exact part, just describe the problem. We’ll ask questions to narrow it down. Photos help enormously – email or WhatsApp them if you can.
We’ll confirm the correct part number and give you a price. With your model and serial numbers, we can cross-reference to make absolutely certain you’re getting the right component.
You’ll get a quote with part numbers, descriptions, pricing, availability. If we need to order something specially, we’ll tell you expected timeframes. No surprises, no hidden costs.
Once you’re happy with the quote, we process your order. We take EFT, credit cards, and have credit accounts for established customers. For urgent orders, we can be flexible on payment timing if it means getting parts moving.
You’ll get order confirmation with invoice details and dispatch timing. New customers start with upfront payment or COD. Once we know each other, we can discuss more flexible terms.
In-stock items ordered before 2pm go out same day via courier. We use reliable couriers who actually track things. You’ll get tracking info so you know when to expect parts.
Major centres usually get next-day delivery. Remote areas might take 2-3 days. If we’re ordering parts specifically for you, we’ll keep you updated as things progress.
After you receive parts, our technical team’s still available for installation questions. We follow up to make sure the part solved your problem.
If something’s wrong – damaged in shipping, wrong item, doesn’t fit despite correct part numbers – we sort it immediately. Your operation needs to get running, and that’s on us to make happen.
Several things affect cost. Genuine Nissan parts cost more than aftermarket because they're made to higher standards. Complex mechanical parts cost more than filters. Common parts we stock in volume are better value than specialized items we order on request. We price based on our costs plus a fair margin. You won't see inflated "emergency" pricing. Call at 8am or 3pm, you pay the same for the same part.
Routine maintenance parts like filters: R150 to R800 depending on type and model. Hydraulic hoses and fittings: R300 to R2,500 based on size and pressure rating. Electrical bits like starters and alternators: R500 to R4,500. Major components need bigger investment. Hydraulic pumps: R8,500 to R25,000. Transmission parts: R3,500 to R18,000 depending on complexity. Complete engine rebuild kits: R15,000 to R45,000 including everything needed. These are ballpark figures. Your specific model and exact part determine actual pricing. We'll always quote specifically rather than giving vague estimates.
If you run multiple Nissan forklifts, volume pricing makes sense. We can set up stocking arrangements for your common parts, giving better per-unit pricing and guaranteed availability. Fleet operators typically save 12-18% on regular purchases. We'll look at your usage history and recommend stocking levels that balance cost savings against what you want to tie up in inventory. The goal is lowering your total cost while ensuring parts are there when needed.
EFT, credit cards, 30-day accounts for approved customers. For urgent repairs, we're flexible on payment timing - getting you running matters more than rigid policies. New customers usually start with payment before dispatch or COD. Once we've worked together and understand your business, we can discuss more flexible arrangements. We're after long-term relationships, not one-off transactions.
We dispatch regularly to Gauteng (Johannesburg, Pretoria, Midrand, Centurion, Sandton, East Rand, West Rand), KwaZulu-Natal (Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Richards Bay), Western Cape (Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Paarl), Eastern Cape (Port Elizabeth, East London), Free State (Bloemfontein), Mpumalanga (Nelspruit, Witbank), Limpopo (Polokwane), North West Province (Rustenburg). Remote or rural spots get parts via courier in 3-5 working days typically. We've supplied mining operations, agricultural setups, manufacturing plants in places nowhere near major cities.
When critical equipment failure stops production entirely, normal delivery isn't good enough. For genuine emergencies, we can arrange same-day courier or direct delivery in Gauteng. Extra courier charges apply, but when downtime costs exceed courier fees, it makes economic sense. We define emergency realistically - production stopped, no backup equipment, real financial impact. We won't charge emergency rates for routine maintenance you kept putting off. Honest assessment means you get appropriate service without unnecessary cost.
If you're in Gauteng, you can collect parts directly from us. No delivery delay at all. Call ahead to confirm it's in stock and ready, and we'll have it waiting when you arrive. Collection also lets you inspect parts before leaving and ask our technical team questions face-to-face. Some customers prefer this direct interaction, especially for complex parts where installation advice adds real value.
Contact us at 010 110 1819 or info@gpforklifts.co.za with details about your forklift fleet: equipment types and ages, usage patterns (shifts per day, operating hours), current service history if available, and any immediate concerns. We'll arrange a site visit to assess your situation and provide accurate, detailed pricing within 48 hours. There's no charge for quotes or assessments, and no pressure to commit – we'd rather you make informed decisions than feel pushed into arrangements that don't fit your needs.
Ryan WiblinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently had to do some major repairs to our forklift. Bob and the team at GP forklifts were absolutely unreal in their service and communication. The forklift was repaired at a very reasonable price and great care and effort was put into repairing everything and I'm quite convinced that the forklift is now running better than when we bought it new. They’re genuine Nissan parts manufactured to OEM specifications. Not aftermarket alternatives, not generic replacements. Genuine parts ensure proper fit, expected service life, maintain performance and safety standards. We can provide authenticity verification if you need it for warranty or compliance.
Our technicians work on all major brands operating in South Africa: Toyota, Hyster, Yale, Crown, Linde, Nissan, and others including older models no longer officially supported. We maintain extensive parts networks and technical documentation covering virtually everything you’ll find in South African facilities. The occasional highly specialised or very new model might require us to bring in brand-specific expertise, but this is rare.
A comprehensive service includes hydraulic system inspection and fluid top-up, complete brake system check and adjustment, chain and mast examination, tyre inspection and pressure check, battery connections and charging system test (electric units), engine tune and filter replacement (combustion units), safety feature testing, and load test to verify capacity. We also note any developing issues requiring future attention. The whole process takes 2-4 hours depending on equipment condition and any additional work identified.
Absolutely, and we maintain detailed service records that preserve warranty coverage. Some warranties require servicing by authorised dealers, though many simply require professional maintenance documentation. We’ll review your warranty terms during assessment to ensure our servicing meets all requirements. In some cases, we coordinate with dealers to maintain warranty compliance while providing more responsive local service.
For maintenance contract customers in our primary service areas (Gauteng, KZN, Western Cape, Eastern Cape), we commit to 4-hour emergency response during business hours, next-day response after hours. Non-contract customers receive service as technician availability allows, typically same-day or next-day. Remote areas naturally take longer – we’re honest about realistic response times rather than making promises we can’t keep.
For major repairs requiring workshop time, we arrange temporary replacements when available from our rental fleet. Availability isn’t guaranteed – we prioritise based on operational urgency and existing commitments. This service is included for premium maintenance contracts and available at daily rental rates for other customers. Many repairs happen on-site during scheduled maintenance, eliminating downtime entirely.
We never pressure customers into unnecessary work. When significant repairs are needed, we explain what’s failing, what happens if you defer the work, safety implications, and cost to repair versus replace. Sometimes the sensible decision is retiring old equipment rather than investing heavily in repairs. We provide honest advice based on your operational needs and budget constraints, not what generates the highest invoice.
Certainly – many customers start with call-out service to evaluate our work before committing to contracts. When you’re ready to switch, we conduct a thorough fleet assessment to establish baseline equipment condition, then propose appropriate contract terms. Existing equipment issues might need addressing before starting preventative maintenance programs, ensuring you’re not paying for regular servicing while dealing with accumulated neglect.
