A worn forklift tyre doesn’t give you much warning. One shift it’s fine, the next there’s chunking on the drive wheel or a flat on a foam-fill that’s seen better days — and now the machine’s parked and your yard’s short a forklift.
GP Forklifts supplies and fits tyres for the full Mitsubishi range. Compact 1-tonne electrics, mid-range gas counterbalances, heavy FD-series diesel units pulling 5 tonnes across a yard — we stock what these machines actually need, and we know the difference between models well enough to catch a wrong fitment before it goes on.
53 years of collective experience in the South African forklift industry. That’s the short version. Call 010 110 1819 or drop us a mail at sales@gpforklifts.co.za and we’ll sort out the rest.
Wrong tyre type on a Mitsubishi forklift causes problems faster than most operators expect. Premature wear is the obvious one. But there’s also handling — a solid tyre on a surface it wasn’t designed for, or a pneumatic running at the wrong pressure, changes how the machine behaves under load. GP Forklifts supplies three categories for Mitsubishi forklifts.
These are what most Mitsubishi FB-series electrics and lighter indoor FG and FD models run as standard. Bonded directly onto the steel rim — no air, no puncture risk. For warehouses and distribution centres with smooth concrete floors, solid cushion tyres outlast pneumatics significantly and need almost no maintenance between replacements.
No inflation checks. No blowout risk. Just rubber wearing down at a predictable rate.
Outdoor machines need pneumatics. The FD30 through to the FD100 range typically runs on air-filled tyres — they absorb the kind of impact you get on loading yards, construction sites, and agricultural environments that solid tyres simply can’t handle.
Pressure matters more than most people realise. Run them too hard and you get cracking and premature sidewall failure. Too soft and the load stability goes — which on a heavy diesel machine with 3+ tonnes up, isn’t something you want to find out the hard way. We check inflation as part of every fitment, not as an afterthought.
Scrap yards. Demolition sites. Anywhere there’s metal, glass, or debris on the ground. That’s where foam-filled tyres earn their keep — they ride like pneumatics, grip like pneumatics, and cannot go flat because there’s no air to lose.
If a flat tyre on your site creates a safety problem rather than just an inconvenience, foam-fill is worth doing. We can fill existing tyres or supply them pre-filled. It’s not the cheapest option but it’s often the right one.
These are the sizes we most commonly supply for Mitsubishi forklifts in Gauteng. Your machine’s tyre size is on the sidewall, or on the data plate near the mast. If you’re not sure, give us the model number and serial number — we’ll confirm it.

We’re not a general tyre fitment centre that happens to stock forklift rubber as a sideline. The collective experience in our team runs to 53 years — specifically in forklifts, specifically in the South African market. We know the Mitsubishi range well enough to spot when a wear pattern is telling you something about a machine’s alignment or load history, not just the tyre.
Downtime on a forklift isn’t abstract — it’s rand value per hour sitting idle. We keep common Mitsubishi tyre sizes in stock specifically to avoid the situation where you’re waiting three days for something that should have been available. Less common dimensions we’ll give you an honest lead time on upfront.
There’s a difference between a tyre that’s been mounted and a tyre that’s been fitted correctly. Before anything goes on your machine, we check the rim. If there’s damage, we tell you. After mounting, it’s torqued to spec and checked before the machine leaves. It adds time. It’s worth it.
If the tyres on your machine have life left in them, we’ll say so. Tread depth, sidewall condition, chunking, wear pattern — we assess all of it. And if there’s a mechanical issue driving abnormal wear, we’ll flag that too before recommending a replacement you might not need yet.
You get a quote before we start. Tyres, fitment, old tyre disposal — it’s all in there. If something unexpected comes up during the job, we call before we proceed. No surprises on the invoice.

We know forklift downtime isn’t something you can schedule around. Tyre enquiries are prioritised — most standard-size requests receive a same-day response.
Contact us with your Mitsubishi model, serial number, and current tyre size. The size is on the sidewall — something like 21x8-9 or 6.00-9. We confirm the right replacement and check what we have in stock. Most enquiries are turned around within an hour during business hours.
Written quote, all in — tyres, fitment, disposal. EFT works, as do other standard payment methods. For supply-only orders, payment is upfront. For on-site fitment, we can arrange payment on completion.
You drop the machine at our depot, or we come to you for mobile fitment across Gauteng. We'll work around your operation's shift schedule where we can — the aim is to get the machine back on the floor with minimum disruption.
Technicians mount the tyres, check inflation on pneumatics, confirm correct press-on fit on solid tyres, inspect the rims, and torque the wheels where applicable. A standard four-tyre change on most Mitsubishi models takes 2 to 4 hours.
We do a quick operational check before handover and give you an expected service interval for the compound we've fitted. Anything else we noticed during fitment — alignment concerns, rim wear, signs of overloading — gets mentioned at this point so you can decide whether it needs attention.
The clients we work with span logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, food and beverage, mining supply yards, and construction materials — essentially any business running Mitsubishi forklifts in Gauteng. If your site falls outside these areas, call us and we’ll work out what’s possible.
Pricing on Mitsubishi forklift tyres varies based on tyre size, type, and compound. A solid cushion tyre for a 1.5t to 3.5t model in the economy range starts from around R800 to R2,500 per tyre. Pneumatics for heavier FD-series machines — FD30 upwards — typically sit between R1,200 and R5,000 or more depending on the size and spec. These are rough ranges, not fixed prices.
What affects cost: size and load rating, tyre type (solid, pneumatic, or foam-filled), compound grade, and quantity. Fleet supply pricing is available on application.
For an accurate figure on your specific machine, call us. Quotes are free and we don’t need a commitment from you to put one together.

Ryan WiblinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently had to do some major repairs to our forklift. Bob and the team at GP forklifts were absolutely unreal in their service and communication. The forklift was repaired at a very reasonable price and great care and effort was put into repairing everything and I'm quite convinced that the forklift is now running better than when we bought it new. Check the sidewall of your current tyre — the size is moulded in, usually something like 21×8-9 or 6.00-9. It’s also in your operator manual and on the data plate attached to the mast or overhead guard. If you’ve got the Mitsubishi model number and serial number, we can pull the correct specification without you needing to crawl under the machine.
Sometimes, yes. A wider tyre or a harder compound can improve load stability or extend tyre life on certain surfaces. But any size change has to stay within Mitsubishi’s approved fitment range — go outside it and you affect the machine’s rated capacity, which has insurance and safety implications. We’ll tell you what alternatives are approved for your model before recommending anything.
On smooth warehouse floors, solid cushion tyres on a Mitsubishi typically run 3,000 to 6,000 operating hours before replacement. Pneumatics on rough outdoor surfaces wear faster — site conditions vary a lot. Most tyres have a wear indicator moulded in, usually a 50mm band. Once you hit it, replace. Chunking, cracking, or flat spots mean replace regardless of depth — those aren’t cosmetic issues.
Yes. For businesses with machines that can’t be easily moved, or operations running a fleet that makes depot drop-off impractical, we can come to your site. Contact us to check availability and any applicable call-out fees for your location.
Common Mitsubishi sizes — the ones you’d find on FG15, FG20, FD30, and similar models — we typically have available for same-day or next-day supply in Gauteng. Less common dimensions, particularly for older models or heavy machines above 5 tonnes, can take 2 to 5 business days. We’ll check before you place the order, not after.
Yes. Older FG and FD series machines are still common across Gauteng and they use sizes that regular tyre shops often don’t carry. We source specifically for the forklift market, which means our range covers machines that have been running for 15 or 20 years, not just current production models.
Removal of the old tyres, rim inspection, mounting, inflation check or press-on confirmation depending on tyre type, torque check on the wheels, and disposal of the old rubber. Everything relevant to a complete, safe fitment. If there’s a rim issue that changes the job scope, we contact you before continuing.
Yes. We supply tyres to businesses running multiple Mitsubishi forklifts across Gauteng and can structure supply agreements for scheduled replacements rather than emergency call-outs. Talk to our sales team at sales@gpforklifts.co.za if you want to discuss how that works for your fleet.
Worn tyres on a Mitsubishi forklift don’t improve on their own. The longer they run past the wear indicators, the more they cost you — in fuel efficiency, in load stability, and eventually in a machine that’s off the floor at the worst possible time.
We’ve been working on Mitsubishi forklifts across Gauteng for a long time. We know the models, we know the tyre specifications, and we keep the common sizes in stock so your machine isn’t waiting for a part to come from somewhere. Call us, tell us what you’ve got, and we’ll take it from there.
