TCM forklifts are built to last. The tyres that keep them running deserve the same standard. GP Forklifts supplies solid and pneumatic tyres specifically suited to TCM models — from compact 1-ton warehouse units to the heavier counterbalance machines that handle serious loads in South African warehouses, factories, and distribution centres. Whether you’re replacing worn rubber on a single machine or restocking a full fleet, we make it straightforward.
With 53 years of collective experience in the forklift industry, our team knows which tyres TCM machines demand, what dimensions fit which chassis, and how to get you back up and running without the runaround. Call us on 010 110 1819 or send a quote request to sales@gpforklifts.co.za.
TCM (Toyo Carrier Manufacturing) has a long history in materials handling equipment. Their counterbalance forklifts — both internal combustion and electric — are widely used across South African warehouses, cold storage facilities, and manufacturing floors. TCM machines are known for compact turning radii and solid build quality, but they do require tyres that match their load ratings, rim sizes, and chassis clearances.
Using the wrong tyre on a TCM forklift isn’t just a performance issue — it creates stability risks and can accelerate wear on the axle and mast assembly. Our team will confirm the correct specification before anything is ordered.
Solid tyres are the standard choice for most indoor and covered TCM applications. They’re made from a high-density rubber compound press-fitted to a steel band, which means zero puncture risk — a real advantage in environments with metal swarf, pallet splinters, or general debris on the floor. Our solid forklift tyre range for TCM machines is available at GP Forklifts’ solid tyre store.
Solid tyres on TCM forklifts deliver consistent load capacity across the shift, with no pressure monitoring required. They typically outlast pneumatic tyres by a significant margin in controlled indoor settings and handle the repetitive cycle demands of busy picking operations without degrading.
If your TCM forklift works across mixed surfaces — loading docks, outdoor yards, uneven concrete, or construction sites — pneumatic tyres are the better option. They absorb ground irregularities, reducing vibration transfer to the machine and the operator. Air-filled pneumatics offer the most cushion, while solid pneumatic (foam-filled or flat-free) variants give you that ride quality without the puncture vulnerability.

Many TCM electric forklifts use press-on band solid tyres, particularly the sit-down counterbalance models common in food distribution and retail logistics. These require precise fitting equipment to seat correctly on the rim — work we handle in-house.
The table below covers tyre sizes suitable for the most common TCM models in South Africa. These are starting-point specifications — always confirm against your specific machine’s tyre placard or operator manual, or call us and we’ll verify for you.

Our team has handled forklift tyres across every major brand and most South African working environments. We know TCM machines — the quirks, the rim tolerances, the axle loads. That depth of experience means we’re not guessing when we spec your replacement tyres; we’re drawing on firsthand knowledge of what works.
Generic forklift tyre suppliers often carry a limited range and will substitute sizes if they’re out of stock. We don’t do that. If a specific TCM-compatible size is needed, we source it correctly rather than fitting something approximate that’ll wear unevenly or compromise your machine’s stability.
Supply without fitting support is half a job. We offer fitting assistance and can direct you to tyre press services where required, ensuring your new tyres are seated to manufacturer specification — not just pressed on and hoped for the best.
You’ll know the cost before anything happens. We quote clearly, without hidden call-out fees or vague line items. Payment options are discussed upfront, and we keep communication straightforward — no chasing, no runaround.
Our floors aren’t the same as European warehouses. South African operations deal with load-shedding schedules that push electric forklifts harder during grid hours, outdoor yards with rough surfaces, and summer heat that accelerates rubber wear. We factor that into our recommendations — not just the manufacturer spec sheet.
The process is straightforward. Here’s what to expect:
Give us the machine model number, current tyre size (found on the sidewall), and how many tyres you need. If you're unsure, we'll help you identify the correct size. A quick call to 010 110 1819 is usually the fastest route.
Once we've confirmed the correct specification and checked stock, you'll receive clear pricing — usually the same day for standard sizes. No delays, no vague estimates.
Once you approve the quote, we arrange payment and confirm the delivery or collection timeline. For fleet orders, we discuss delivery scheduling to minimise downtime across your machines.
Tyres are delivered to your site or available for collection, depending on your preference. We cover Johannesburg, Pretoria, Ekurhuleni, and surrounding Gauteng areas.
We can advise on fitting or direct you to press-fitting services to ensure tyres are correctly seated. Solid tyres must be machine-pressed — never hammered on.

Ryan WiblinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently had to do some major repairs to our forklift. Bob and the team at GP forklifts were absolutely unreal in their service and communication. The forklift was repaired at a very reasonable price and great care and effort was put into repairing everything and I'm quite convinced that the forklift is now running better than when we bought it new. We cover the most common TCM models used in South Africa, including their 1–5 ton counterbalance range and electric warehouse trucks. If you have an older or less common TCM model, contact us with the tyre size from the sidewall and we’ll source the correct replacement.
The size is moulded into the tyre sidewall — look for a format like 21×8-9 or 225/75-10. You can also find the recommended size in your machine’s operator manual or on a placard near the tyre. If you can’t locate it, call us with your model number and we’ll look it up.
Solid tyres are puncture-proof and ideal for indoor use on flat, clean surfaces. Pneumatic tyres — air-filled or foam-filled — are better for outdoor use or uneven surfaces as they absorb ground vibration. Most TCM warehouse machines run solid tyres; outdoor yard TCM machines typically run pneumatics.
For standard sizes in stock, we typically confirm availability the same day and can arrange delivery within 1–3 business days depending on your location. For less common sizes or large fleet orders, lead times are discussed at quote stage.
Solid forklift tyres must be machine-pressed — they can’t be fitted by hand. We can advise on fitting or direct you to appropriate tyre press services in your area. Contact us when placing your order and we’ll factor fitting requirements into the plan.
