Fifty-three years of collective experience in the forklift industry. That’s what’s behind every tyre recommendation GP Forklifts makes — not guesswork, not a catalogue lookup, but hands-on knowledge of what Nissan forklifts actually do in South African operations. We supply and fit solid, pneumatic, and cushion tyres for the full Nissan range, from compact 1-tonne warehouse units to the heavier counterbalance machines working distribution yards and manufacturing floors.
Wrong tyre size. Incorrect compound. Poor fitment. Any one of those can pull a machine out of service — and in a busy operation, a forklift sitting idle is money you’re not getting back. Our job is to make sure that doesn’t happen to you.
Not every Nissan forklift takes the same tyre — and it’s not just about size. The surface your machine runs on, what it’s lifting, and how many shifts it covers all affect which tyre type makes sense. Get it wrong and you’ll either wear tyres out faster than you should, or you’ll have a machine that handles poorly and puts strain on the operator. Here’s how the three main types break down.
Solid tyres are exactly what they sound like — no air, no tube, no valve. They’re pressed directly onto the rim and that’s where they stay. No punctures. No pressure checks. No unexpected flats halfway through a shift because someone drove over a screw.
In South African warehousing and manufacturing environments — where floors often carry nails, metal offcuts, broken pallet wood, or sharp aggregate — this matters a lot. A pneumatic tyre on the same floor is a liability. Solid rubber isn’t.
You can get solid Nissan tyres in standard black rubber or non-marking white compound. The white variants are important in food production, beverages, pharmaceuticals — anywhere that black rubber marks on a sealed floor create a problem.
Our solid tyre range is listed here: Solid Forklift Tyres for Sale Across South Africa.
If your Nissan forklift works outdoors — on gravel, aggregate, uneven concrete aprons, or anything rougher than a smooth warehouse floor — pneumatic tyres are the right call. The air cushion does two things: it absorbs surface vibration that would otherwise transfer into the chassis, and it gives the tyre more flex over uneven ground, which means better traction and a more stable load.
Over a long shift on rough surfaces, the difference is noticeable. Operators fatigue faster on a solid tyre when the ground is uneven. Loads shift more. It’s the kind of thing that’s easy to overlook until you’ve actually run both side by side.
We supply pneumatic Nissan tyres in tube-type and tubeless configurations. Which is more appropriate depends on the rim condition and your operating setup — our team will advise when you enquire.
Cushion tyres get overlooked sometimes, but they’re the correct fitment for a good number of Nissan models designed for smooth indoor surfaces. Press-fitted onto a steel band rather than a standard rim, they sit lower than pneumatics — which matters in facilities with height restrictions on racking aisles or dock doors.
They’re not interchangeable with pneumatic tyres. If your machine came out of the factory on cushion fitment, fitting pneumatics changes the load rating geometry and can compromise mast clearance. If you’re not certain which type your Nissan requires, your model number is all we need to confirm it.

The size is on the sidewall — check there first. It’ll read as something like 21×8-9 or 7.00-12, and that’s the number you want when you call us. Fitting the wrong size isn’t just a performance issue. It affects your machine’s rated capacity, mast clearance, and — in a serious case — whether it’s safe to operate at all.
Below are the tyre sizes we most commonly supply for Nissan models. If yours isn’t on this list, contact us with the model number and we’ll source the correct specification.

There are plenty of tyre suppliers in South Africa. Most of them sell general tyres with a forklift section somewhere in the catalogue. GP Forklifts is different — the forklift industry is all we do. Our team doesn’t carry across from car tyres or truck tyres or agricultural equipment. Everything we know is forklift-specific, which means when we recommend a tyre compound or a size, it’s based on actual knowledge of how that machine loads, steers, and wears rubber.
Our team has seen Nissan forklifts in warehouses, cold stores, agricultural packhouses, manufacturing plants, and busy logistics yards. That range of exposure means we understand what drives tyre wear in your specific environment — not just in theory.
We don’t list tyres we don’t have. For the most widely used Nissan models, the right size is typically available from our existing stock — no weeks-long wait while something gets ordered in from overseas.
A solid tyre pressed on at the wrong pressure, or a pneumatic fitted to a rim it doesn’t seat properly on, is a problem waiting to happen. We fit tyres correctly — correct press for solid types, correct inflation for pneumatics, load rating verified before the machine goes back out.
Load shedding affects shift patterns. Gauteng’s summer heat and the humidity on the coast affect rubber compound performance differently. Polished concrete in a modern DC and the abrasive floor in an older factory wear tyres at different rates. These things inform which tyre we recommend.
Your quote is itemised and final. We don’t add call-out fees after the fact, and we don’t adjust the price when we arrive. What’s quoted is what’s invoiced.
We know forklift downtime isn’t something you can schedule around. Tyre enquiries are prioritised — most standard-size requests receive a same-day response.
We try to keep this as uncomplicated as possible. You shouldn’t have to spend half a day chasing a tyre quote.
Phone or email — whichever is easier. Have your Nissan model or serial number handy, and if you can see the size on the existing tyre sidewall, even better. If the tyre's already off the machine and you're not sure what was on it, we can work it out from the model number. This takes five minutes.
We check the correct tyre type, size, and compound for your machine and confirm availability from stock. A quote goes to you the same day for standard sizes — itemised, with no hidden additions.
Once the quote is confirmed, we arrange supply and — where needed — fitment. If you're bringing the machine to us, we schedule it efficiently. If you need tyres delivered to your site, lead times are confirmed at quote stage.
Fitment is done with the right equipment. Solid tyres are checked for press integrity. Pneumatics are set to correct inflation pressure. Load ratings verified. The machine isn't returned to service until we're satisfied it's properly sorted.
Your forklift is running again. We'll flag what to watch for on the next tyre inspection — wear patterns, sidewall cracking, any signs that suggest a compound change might be worth considering before the next replacement cycle.
GP Forklifts supplies Nissan forklift tyres across South Africa. Our strongest supply capacity is in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape, and the Eastern Cape — but we supply customers in other provinces too.
Depending on your location and the size of the order, tyres can be delivered to your facility or collected from us directly. If you’re in a more remote area or you need something urgently, call us first. We’ll give you an honest answer on what’s achievable and what the lead time looks like, rather than telling you what you want to hear.
Unsure if we cover your area? Call 010 110 1819 — we’ll tell you straight.
There’s no single price we can publish that covers every Nissan tyre size, compound, and quantity combination. The range is too wide. What we can tell you is that every quote from GP Forklifts is itemised, accurate, and doesn’t change between quote and invoice.
Solid Tyres | Entry-level pricing starts at the smaller sizes for 1T–1.5T Nissan models and scales with diameter and compound spec. Non-marking white rubber carries a small premium over standard black — usually worth it if you’re running on sealed food-grade or pharmaceutical floors. |
Pneumatic Tyres | Pricing is driven by size and configuration — tube-type or tubeless. Larger outdoor sizes for 3-tonne-plus Nissan machines cost more than smaller indoor equivalents. If you’re replacing a full set of four, ask us about the difference in cost versus doing one at a time. |
Cushion Tyres | Cushion tyre pricing comes down to band size and rubber spec. Fitting two or four at once tends to be more cost-effective than single replacements — something to factor in if one tyre is close to the limit but not quite there yet. |
Fitment | Where fitment is required, it’s quoted as a separate line item on your quote — always disclosed upfront. No surprise additions on the day. |
Payment | We accept EFT. Established account customers can discuss payment terms on larger orders. Contact us directly to arrange this. |
Ryan WiblinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently had to do some major repairs to our forklift. Bob and the team at GP forklifts were absolutely unreal in their service and communication. The forklift was repaired at a very reasonable price and great care and effort was put into repairing everything and I'm quite convinced that the forklift is now running better than when we bought it new. Solid tyres are rubber all the way through — no air, no pressure, no punctures. They suit indoor environments and any site where sharp debris on the floor makes a flat tyre a real risk. Pneumatic tyres are air-filled, which gives them more shock absorption. If your Nissan runs outdoors on gravel, rough concrete, or any uneven surface, pneumatic is usually the better fit. The wrong choice for your environment isn’t a disaster — it just means faster wear, rougher handling, or more tyre incidents than you’d like.
Yes. Non-marking white solid tyres are available for Nissan models. They’re the right choice for food production facilities, cold stores, pharmaceutical environments, and anywhere that black rubber marks on a sealed floor are a compliance or hygiene issue. They carry a small price premium over standard black rubber. Just flag it when you request your quote so we can confirm the correct size is in stock in white compound.
For common Nissan sizes, availability from existing stock means supply is often same-day or next business day. Less common specifications take longer and we’ll confirm lead time at quote stage. If you’re based in Gauteng, you’ll generally be looking at shorter turnaround times given where our main stockholding is. Give us a call with the size and quantity — we’ll tell you exactly what’s available and when.
Most customers bring the machine to us, which is usually the fastest arrangement. If that’s not practical — multiple machines, or equipment that can’t easily be moved — contact us to talk through on-site fitment options. Either way, fitment is quoted as a line item upfront. There’s no figure that only appears when we arrive.
We supply and fit tyres across the full Nissan range used in South Africa — counterbalance models, reach trucks, warehouse forklifts. 53 years of collective experience in this industry means we’ve worked with most of what Nissan has put on the market over the decades. If you’re running an older model or something less common, give us the serial number and we’ll tell you what we have.
We’ll say so upfront and give you a realistic lead time. If the wait doesn’t work for your operation, we’ll check whether there’s a compatible specification that’s available sooner — something that fits correctly and performs the same way. We don’t fit a tyre that’s ‘close’ to the right size just to close the job. Getting it right matters more than getting it done fast.
Yes — Nissan is one of many brands we cover. Toyota, Yanmar, Rhino-Heli, Yale, Hyster, Linde, Mitsubishi, Clark, and others are all part of what we do. This page focuses on Nissan specifically, but if you need tyres for a different brand on the same site, we can sort that too. Our Forklift Tyres overview page has the full picture.
A forklift sitting in the corner waiting for a tyre costs you every hour it’s there. It doesn’t need to be complicated — give us the size or the model number, we’ll confirm what we have and get a quote to you fast. Fitment can be arranged at the same time if you need it.
Three ways to reach us. Use whichever is easiest.
